Video tutorial Friday - Big on Birthdays

Good morning Craft Lovers! I decided 3 weeks ago to start making youtube tutorials on my cards, as I wanted to be able to share with you the process of how I make my cards and not just the finished process. I have decided to try and commit to a video every Friday and so far so good! This is my Third video since starting this and I would love for you to check it out along with my other two if your interested.

Now lets have a closer look at the card I made for this tutorial. This was a super fun one to do as my friend Charlotte came over in need of a card for her mum. She chose the colour and stamp set she wanted to use and then we started brainstorming. Once we had a plan we set the camera up and started crafting. Charlotte was a bit unsure, not wanting to work on the card in case she messed it up but I managed to convince her to jump in a few times and have a go. I'm hoping next time to convince her to make the card all by herself, I know she can do it.

I love the way this card came out, and that I got to record it with the help of Charlotte, it's so much fun crafting with friends and changes the whole experience. If you live near Gosnells, and want to try making your own card let me know I love sharing my craft room and love for card making with others.

Watercolour Wings GDP075 & CI04

Good Evening! I hope you have all had an amazing week, I have been getting into exercise and my muscles are killing me, so after a busy day I was so happy to relax in my craft room and do a little creating. For today's project I decided to have a little fun and combine 2 challenges that I thought would go together beautifully. First off I drew inspiration from the Global Design Project and their Winged Creatures themed challenge. Now my automatic response was to reach for my Dragonfly Dreams set, however I decided to make myself use my more neglected Watercolour Wings set instead.

My second challenge I drew inspiration from was the Colour INKspiration challenge, they are a challenge group set up on facebook as apposed to the normal blog situations. When I saw their colour challenge for this week I knew I had to challenge myself to give it a try, firstly because it is a colour combination I would not usually think to use together and I wanted to give it a try, and secondly because I have Delightful Dijon card stock overflowing from my paper stack and I have never used it, so why not drag it out and give it a try.

Now you know the reasoning behind me trying out these challenges I think we should get onto showing you what I came up with. Throughout the process of making this card I was constantly thinking I didn't like it, that the way I was using the colours wasn't working and I was convinced it would turn out terrible.

By the time I glues it all together and started taking photo's of it I was finally beginning to like it and although it is out of my normal comfort zone I am very happy with the end results.

I decided to bling this card up a little bit with the amazing wink of stella! I am almost out of my first pen of this magical glimmery perfection and definitely need to get more! I also decided to use some pearls down the middle of my butterfly, just to add a little bit more to the card, I tossed up using rhinestones instead but I just love the look of the pearls so much and couldn't go past them.

Finally I added one of the smaller butterflies to the inside of the card just so it didn't feel neglected, I originally made a few of these smaller butterflies for the front until I realized it would look way too crowed if I was to put them on, so I decided to use them to jazz up the inside instead of just pushing them to the side and not using them.

That's all from me for today, however the morning promises a hot 40 degree day here in WA so I will be hiding out in the craft room with the air-con on all day so will hopefully have some finished pieces to share with you then.

I hope you all have an amazing weekend and happy creating

Thank you card and puppies

Well I had every intention of putting up a blog earlier then this unfortunately I wasn't able to access my craft room due to a robbery leaving it in disarray and having to wait for forensics to clean. Good news is they didn't take any of my beautiful craft things, they did take our camera but with some awesome work from the police we got that back the very next day.

We were also broken into back in December and had been saving to get extra security measures in place as soon as we could, unfortunately we couldn't get it done soon enough. However thanks to our amazing family we are able to get our house secure so hopefully no one else will be able to violate our privacy like this again.

So once I cleaned up the house and got my craft room sorted I decided I should make some thank you cards for those in our family who have helped us make securing our home possible. So far I have only made one, I have found it very hard to turn my brain from stressing to crafting but will hopefully put a few more together over the next few days even if they are the same.

I hope you enjoy this simple card, the hardest part was lining up the delicate details stamp set to make it stretch the whole 6" of the card, but with a few simple steps I found it rather simple. Can you spot the seams?

To achieve this I used the Stampin' Up! grid paper to help keep my lines straight and after stamping and embossing the first image I placed a piece of clear plastic cut from a sandwich bag over the stamped image leaving the smallest bit of gold sticking out. From here I lined the stamp up overlapping the previously stamped image and stamped down before applying the embossing powder.

By protecting the already stamped image you don't risk making the pattern look muddy if you don't stamp it exactly right, allowing for a margin of error without making the error totally noticeable.
Feel free to ask me any questions if needed, if my above instructions don't seem clear I apologise it's been a stressful few days but I am more then happy to help in any way I can if anyone wants help extending their lace patterns.

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend no matter what you do, I for one will be celebrating my baby boy Rocket's 1st Birthday tomorrow by having all my friends and their dogs over for a play. I will be sure to take some pictures with our recovered computer and share it with you. :)

Which reminds me I haven't introduced you all to my babies yet so here they are my babes, Rocket and his baby sister Luna. They also have 2 feline brothers who might feature in another blog.
